News:
Pune-based software services companies
are evincing keen interest in setting
up centres in the North-eastern city
of Dalian, which is fast emerging as a
top Chinese hub for IT firms.
Some
IT companies from Pune have shown
interest in setting up units in Dalian,
where there is no shortage of skilled
manpower for the sector, Software
Exporters' Association of Pune (SEAP)
President Nitin Deshpande said.
However, he did not identify the
companies which are looking to set up
facilities in Dalian, saying things
are still in preliminary stage.
Deshpande, was here to attend the
China International Software and
Information Service Fair 2008 (CISIS)
that ended on June 20.
The fair, which is in its fifth year,
is a state- sponsored annual event
that attracted government officials
from South Korea, Japan and Australian
besides China.
Global companies like SAP, Ericsson,
Neusoft, Fujitsu and Microsoft
participated in the fair. China is a
huge market and Indian firms can not
afford to ignore it, he said.
According to figures provided at the
fair, the market size of China's
software industry was $ 83.3 billion
in 2007, up from $ 8.5 billion in
2000.
China's software export was to the
tune of $10.24 billion last year, a
manifold-jump from $400 million in
2000.
