News: Pune police arrested a student
accused of poisoning her former
boyfriend to death. Aditi Sharma, from
Jammu was arrested on Tuesday with her
present boyfriend who is also an
accomplice to the murder of Udit
Bharati last month.
A
first-year student of the Indian
institute of Modern Management in Pune
she was close to Bharati, her
classmate also from Jammu.
But the two broke up when Aditi got
involved with Pravin Khandelwal. On
April 23, Aditi and Pravin visited
Shirdi and then Pune to meet Udit.
Aditi offered Udit some prasad from
Shirdi but after eating that he
started vomiting and was admitted to
Birla hospital where he died.
''He told me they offered him
something and he said I ate it. And
was admitted to hospital,'' said Biju
Pillay, Director, IIMM, Pune.
The police initially registered a case
of accidental death but following a
complaint from Udit's father and the
post mortem report, the police on
Tuesday night arrested Aditi.
''We have the Post Mortem report,
which indicates a poisonous,
arsenic-like substance in the viscera.
On these basis we have arrested the
two suspects,'' said Chandrakant
Daithankar, DCP.
Aditi and Pravin have been remanded to
police custody till May 19.
